- Make an account with Lymlight and build out your profile complete with links to your album, videos, and info. This is where hosts will see if you are someone they want to host.
- Reach out to hosts ONLY within the genres you play. You’ll know that hosts are in your genre because they have tagged themselves as hosting certain genres. Do not spam hosts or we will evict you from the site. Our hosts are gold and will bring you revenue, so be respectful. See terms and conditions.
- Talk with interested hosts about a date, time, how long you’ll play, how many seats they will fill, and how much each guest will pay for a ticket. The host is responsible for filling the seats.
Performing house shows is a big deal. Why? Because your audience is right next to you. They will hear everything. They will see everything. This is your moment to shine, so make sure you are ready for that. Practice your set daily. Figure out how you plan to connect with your audience. Where will you tell the story behind your song? Where will you say nothing and just play? These are important pieces of the show to keep the guests engaged. That is your job. If you talk too much, they will start to check out because they came to see you perform. Where will you mention merch? Do not act desperate. Be yourself and connect with them. They are real people who want to hear you.
House shows are beautiful because you get to be seen and heard, receive a living wage, and play your original work. If you are looking to do a bunch of covers, this may not be the platform for you. Lymlight showcases originals so that undiscovered performers can share with people what they brought to life.
If you’ve played bars, restaurants, open mics, family events, etc, maybe you’ve had enough practice to get yourself into house shows. If you have an album out, you’ll have something to leave an audience who just fell in love with you and your work.
We just launched, so we’re going to need helping finding people to host. If you want to be a Founding Lymlighter who spreads the word to your hosts and audiences, email us. Please send us any feedback that would help make the site and experience better for you.
